Begin at the Orsay Museum, where our charming young guides will lead you through the repurposed, century-old train station that today showcases explore the artistic evolutions that led to the Impressionists.
From Manet’s scandalous “Luncheon on the Grass” to Renoir’s “Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette,” our engaging guides will discuss the Impressionists and their innovative techniques. Explore those who came right before them like Millet and “The Gleaners” as well as their legacy carried on by the likes of Van Gogh, as visible in his “Bedroom in Arles.” And of course we’ll check out works by Monet himself, including his famous poppies. Think windmills, lily pads, and ballerinas.
After the museum, step back into time to the 19th century, when Paris was living the Belle Epoque, when cancan dancers kicked high, and when artists enjoyed absinthe in cafés. Explore the cobbled streets stretching between the Moulin Rouge and the Sacré Coeur basilica, considered to be the home of the art movement known as Impressionism. Stunning views across Paris will make it clear why artists chose to live here, in one of the city’s most inspirational districts.

Belene was AMAZING!! She was so knowledgeable about everything!! She was delightful in her presentation about the art and the artists. She asked questions of us and made the tour interactive and pushed us to understand our views about art and history. When we come back to Paris we will contact her!! The walk up the windy streets of Montmartre allowed us to see, hear and feel the nuances of the neighborhood that the artists had lived in. I can not begin to praise enough how delightful this tour was!!!
Our guide, Belen, was fantastic!!
Our guide Belen was outstanding. Knowledgeable, passionate, and considerate. Very good experience.
I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants a personal tour privately, complete with history along the way. I highly recommend Kristina. She was extremely knowledgeable about the impressionists and other eras of art, as well as history of Paris. I would take a tour with her anytime.
We did a full-day tour of the Montmartre and the Orsay Museum with Babylon Tours. We met our guide at the metro stop in front of the Moulon Rouge and then ambled through back alleys to the top of the hill stopping at sites of importance to the history of artists in the area. At the top of the hill, we toured Sacre Cour and then walked back down. After lunch, we took a taxi to the Orsay for 2 1/2 additional hours of in depth art history and interpretation. It was easily the best museum experience I've ever had.
